L&T Set-up a Dedicated Division to Develop Green Hydrogen Projects

Engineering giant Larsen & Toubro (L&T) announced on Friday the establishment of a new arm, L&T Green Energy Kandla Pvt Ltd, to focus on the development of green hydrogen projects. In a filing with the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE), L&T stated, "L&T Energy Green Tech Ltd, a wholly-owned subsidiary of the company, has incorporated L&T Green Energy Kandla Pvt Ltd (LTGEK) as its new wholly-owned subsidiary, effective from April 4, 2025."

Hydrogen produced through the electrolysis of water, powered by renewable energy sources, is known as green hydrogen. It is regarded as a clean, flexible, and versatile energy carrier that can play a key role in addressing the challenges of energy supply and climate change.

The filing stated, "L&T Green Energy Kandla has been established with the aim of developing green hydrogen and its derivatives (including green ammonia, among others), as well as engaging in other related business activities." The renowned construction giant L&T had previously commissioned and successfully launched its very first green hydrogen plant in Gujarat, marking a significant step towards sustainable energy solutions.
