06 Jan 2025

ENGIE, a global frontrunner in low-carbon and energy solutions, has unveiled plans to substantially expand its renewable energy capacity in India, with a target of 7 GW by 2030. This move supports India’s ambitious objective of reaching "Net Zero Carbon" by 2045. Having been a key player in India’s energy sector for over 30 years, ENGIE continues to drive progress in the country's sustainable energy transition.

To commemorate this milestone, the company celebrates ten years of clean energy accomplishments, boasting a 2.3 GW renewable energy portfolio, with 1.1 GW already operational across seven states in India. "Achieving this 10-year milestone in renewable energy leadership in India is a moment of great pride for ENGIE," said Amit Jain, CEO and Country Manager of ENGIE.

"Our journey highlights our dedication to sustainability, technological innovation, and building strategic partnerships with local stakeholders. By implementing cutting-edge energy solutions and empowering communities, we strive to accelerate India's energy transition and make a meaningful contribution to its net-zero goals. Our approach goes beyond producing clean energy; it’s also about creating shared prosperity and advancing sustainable development."

ENGIE has led the way in numerous ground-breaking renewable energy projects, establishing industry benchmarks for both technological innovation and operational performance. Noteworthy examples include the 200 MW Raghanesda Solar Plant in Gujarat and the 140 MW Bhadla Solar Plant in Rajasthan, both of which utilise advanced dry robotic cleaning technologies.
