The Competition Commission of India (CCI), a fair trade watchdog, is undertaking a market study to examine competition-related concerns within the renewable energy sector across BRICS nations. Ravneet Kaur, Chairperson of CCI, stated that this study is being carried out by India as part of the BRICS framework.
Currently, the regulator is currently undertaking market studies on artificial intelligence (AI) and competition. In an interview, the chairman said that "CCI has begun the process of studying competition issues in the renewable energy space across the BRICS nations."
Initially, the group included Brazil, Russia, India, and China, with South Africa later becoming a member, and since then, several other countries have since joined the bloc. Kaur also mentioned that the commission examines potential areas for market studies based on market dynamics and enforcement priorities.
