Tata Sons Chairman N. Chandrasekaran, in his New Year address to the group's employees, announced that the Tata Group aims to generate more than five lakh new manufacturing jobs through its projects over the next five years.
"Our group aims to generate 500,000 manufacturing jobs over the next five years," said Chandrasekaran. He added that these jobs will result from the group's investments in factories and projects focused on producing advanced products, including batteries, semiconductors, electric vehicles, solar equipment, and other essential hardware.
In his letter, the Chairman of Tata Sons noted that these contributions will stem, in part, from the aforementioned investments in facilities across India—factories and projects focused on producing batteries, semiconductors, electric vehicles, solar equipment, and other essential hardware that will be crucial to the economy of the future.
Along with these manufacturing roles, the group will also generate employment opportunities in various other sectors, such as retail, technology services, airlines, and hospitality. Chandrasekaran emphasised the group's efforts in the artificial intelligence space. Construction is underway for more than seven new manufacturing facilities, including India's first semiconductor fab plant in Dholera, Gujarat, and a new semiconductor OSAT plant in Assam.
