Tata Power plans to invest around ?1.46 lakh crore to expand its operational capacity to 32 GW by 2030. In FY24, the company had an installed capacity of 15.6 GW, with 6.7 GW coming from renewable energy sources, as stated by Sinha during a discussion at the company's cell module plant in Tirunelveli, Tamil Nadu.
Talking about the company's goals for 2030, he mentioned that the target is to expand operational capacity to 31.9 GW, with renewable energy contributing 23 GW. Tata Power is also actively involved in the transmission sector, aligning with the country's vision for the energy industry.
The company plans to expand its transmission line capacity from 4,633 ckm to 10,500 ckm in FY24. Regarding distribution, Tata Power aims to grow its customer base to 40 million, up from 12.5 million, according to the CEO.
Tata Power has earmarked a capital expenditure of ?1,46,000 crore for the period FY25-FY30. For the current fiscal year, the capex stands at ?21,000 crore, with ?26,000 crore allocated for the next financial year. "During this period, 60% of our capex will be dedicated to renewables," he added.
