The IIT Bombay and HSBC India Green Hydrogen Program has chosen six ground-breaking projects from submissions made by six IITs, National Institutes of Technology (NITs), and Indian Institutes of Science, Education, and Research (IISERs). The initiative, focused on advancing green hydrogen technologies, is in line with India’s National Green Hydrogen Mission and aims to tackle key challenges in hydrogen production, storage, transportation, and utilization.
These six projects were chosen through a thorough, rigorous process by a steering committee comprising industry experts and senior faculty members from IIT Bombay. They will be incubated at IIT Bombay and provided with the necessary support until they are commercially ready.
These innovations include a locally developed multi-stack alkaline electrolyser, indigenous hydrogen storage systems, and a sustainable burner that offers alternatives to conventional combustion processes. The projects also focus on cost-efficient hydrogen production techniques, equipment for safely blending hydrogen with natural gas, and high-efficiency hydrogen generators.
