ICRA stated recently that India's renewable energy capacity is projected to reach 250 GW by March 2026. It said that the growth in capacity is expected to be fuelled by a substantial project pipeline exceeding 80 GW, driven by a notable increase in tender activity during FY24.
According to a report from ICRA, the agency anticipates that India's installed renewable energy capacity, including large hydropower projects, will increase from 201 GW in September 2024 to around 250 GW by March 2026.
We expect the rooftop solar segment and the commercial & industrial (C&I) segment to contribute significantly to capacity addition. However, challenges remain on the implementation front with regard to delays in land acquisition and transmission connectivity, which, if persist, could hurt the sector's prospects.
