A senior official from the Indian Biogas Association (IBA) said that an investment of Rs 1,850 crore has been committed to the biogas sector during the Renewable Energy India (REI) Expo 2024, which took place from October 3-5 in Greater Noida.
"IBA has secured investment commitments totalling Rs 1,850 crore through joint ventures (JVs), memorandums of understanding (MoUs), and letters of intent (LOIs) at the Renewable Energy India (REI) Expo 2024, which took place from October 3-5 in Greater Noida," stated IBA Chairman Gaurav Kedia during an interaction.
Kedia stated that the REI Expo witnessed 47 exhibitors from 10 countries known for biogas production. He said the investment is scheduled to be completed in 2-3 years and reflects strong interest internationally, especially from countries like Germany, Sweden, and the UK.
"We have signed MoUs worth over Rs 900 crore for joint ventures and received around 50 LoIs to set up compressed biogas plants in India," Kedia added.
Established in 2011 and revitalised in 2015, IBA serves as a national hub for bioenergy operators, manufacturers, and planners, collaborating with international organisations like the German Biogas Association to promote the growth of the biogas sector in India.
