Taking a significant step towards sustainability, the Adani Group has announced a partnership with global technology leader Google to boost clean energy production in India. Through this partnership, Adani will supply clean energy from its solar-wind hybrid power plant located in Khavda, which is recognised as the world's largest renewable energy park.
The project is scheduled to commence commercial operations in the third quarter of 2025, representing a crucial milestone in the efforts of both companies to meet their environmental objectives. The collaborative effort seeks to enhance Google's ambitious goal of operating entirely on 24/7 carbon-free energy. By utilising Adani's renewable energy assets, Google plans to sustainably power its cloud services and operations in India.
The Ahmedabad-based conglomerate stated that this partnership marks a crucial step towards contributing to Google's sustainable development in the region. The collaboration also supports Adani's wider sustainability goals. Recently, Adani Enterprises, Adani Ports & Special Economic Zone, and Ambuja Cements became part of the World Economic Forum's 'Transitioning Industrial Clusters' initiative, which focuses on speeding up decarbonisation efforts across various industries.
Notably, Adani Ports aims to achieve net-zero emissions by 2040 and plans for all its port operations to be fully powered by renewable energy by 2025. Additionally, Ambuja Cements is working to establish the world's lowest emissions-intensity cement production facility at its upcoming unit in Mundra. Apart from this, the Adani Mundra Cluster is poised to emerge as one of the largest integrated green hydrogen hubs globally, reinforcing Adani's commitment to pioneering clean energy innovation.
