NTPC has proudly inaugurated 160 MW of the 320 MW Bhainsara solar projects in Jaisalmer, Rajasthan. This expansion brings NTPC Group’s total installed and operational capacity to 76,294 MW. NTPC REL, a subsidiary of NTPC Ltd operating under NTPC Green Energy Ltd, commenced commercial operations on August 28, 2024.
As of noon on August 30, 2024, NTPC stock was trading at ?417 on the NSE, reflecting a gain of 1.78%. The stock has surged by 89% since the start of the year and 34% in the past few months. NTPC Ltd., previously known as National Thermal Power Corporation, is a prominent public-sector enterprise operating under India's Ministry of Power. Based in New Delhi, NTPC is dedicated to generating and distributing electricity throughout India.
The company provides consulting and turnkey project management services for power plants. NTPC, India's largest power producer, has a generating capacity of 71,594 MW and accounts for more than 25% of the country's total power generation.
In FY 2023-24, NTPC Mining Ltd. (NML), a subsidiary, extracted 100 MMT of coal from its mines across Jharkhand, Odisha, and Chhattisgarh. Notably, the company manages 55 power stations across various sources, including coal, gas, hydro, wind, and solar, as well as additional stations through joint ventures.
