With this, the overall operating renewable energy capacity of the company stands at 2,215 Mw in India, the firm said in a statement. The company has tied-up the sale of power from the plant under a 25-year Power Purchase Agreement with state-owned Solar Energy Corporation of India (SECI).
“We plan to add around 1,000 Mw renewable energy capacity to our portfolio every year, scaling it to 45-50 per cent in the next five years, largely through organic growth,” Tata Power Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Praveer Sinha said.
The project is part of a scheme by the Ministry of New And Renewable Energy (MNRE) for developing grid-connected solar power capacity under the second phase of Jawaharlal Nehru National Solar Mission (JNNSM) through Viability Gap Funding.
