Japan’s Bando Chemical Industries Ltd (TYO:5195) said it has completed the installation of a 1-MW rooftop solar array for a subsidiary in India. The photovoltaic (PV) system was built atop the Bando India Pvt facility in Bangalore and should be able to generate a little over 1.36 million kWh per year, enough to meet approximately 30% of Bando’s local power consumption. The company estimates it will switch on the PV system later this month. Once in operation, the solar array will cut the local factory's carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions by 9%, offsetting some 350 tonnes of CO2 annually. In addition to the Indian installation, the chemical company also has a rooftop solar system in Thailand that was put into operation in April 2021. Overall, Bando Chemicals is looking to achieve carbon neutrality by 2050.
