Indian American Arpita Bhattacharyya named for US department of energy role

Indian American Arpita Bhattacharyya, was among a group of new additional appointees at the US department of energy. It was announced by the Biden-Harris administration earlier this week, to help advance President Joe
Biden’s ambitious ‘build back better’ agenda to combat climate change, create good-paying jobs, and win the clean energy future for all Americans. Bhattacharyya, who most recently led strategic projects at Impossible Foods, a food and beverage company that made meat from plants, and worked to bring low-emission food technology to market is to join the team as chief of staff, office of the deputy secretary. Bhattacharyya, who is one of several Indian Americans selected by the Biden administration for leadership roles, has previously worked at  SunPower , a leading renewables company in San Francisco, developing commercial solar projects for Fortune 500 companies and later leading the channel project development and finance team. She has also worked closely with the US and international governments on collaborative climate partnerships at the Center for American Progress. She is a resident of San Francisco Bay area and holds an MBA from the Yale School of Management and a BA degree from Carleton College. She also has had published work on environment and climate change.
